Google Print Sued over Google Print....

So it look likes the fight is on....Google is sued by The Authors Guild and writers Herbert Mitgang, Betty Miles and Daniel Hoffman in federal court for copyright infringement. This is yet another lawsuit stemming from the Google Print service, which allows searching of the whole text of works as well as display of selected pages from that work matching search criteria. While Google allows authors to opt out of the project, critics say that Google's plan to allow copyright holders to opt out switch the burden of upholding copyright from infringers to copyright holders.

The theory that they are (apparently) advancing is that Google is violating the author's rights to control reproductions of their works.

By reproducing for itself a copy of those works that are not in the public domain, Google is allegedly engaging in massive copyright infringement. It has infringed, and continues to infringe, the electronic rights of the copyright holders of those works.

The lawsuit said Google knew or should have known that copyright laws required it to obtain authorization from copyright owners of literary works to create and reproduce digital copies for its own commercial use.

NORFOLK, VA—Saying "Fuck this shit, I'm stopping beating hearts with my bare hands," Justice Antonin Scalia, overlooked for the vacated position of Supreme Court chief justice, went on a spiteful abortion-performing bender over the weekend. "If I'm not going to be permitted a lasting judicial legacy, to hell with law and order," said Scalia, the conservative Reagan appointee who has served on the court since 1986. "I worked my ass off for 20 years, and no one cares. So, who gives a shit? Safe, legal abortions for all. Who wants one?" Scalia added that 2000 presidential candidate Al Gore "totally won that election, any idiot knows that."
